Prayer time..

You've become a very dilligent prayer now mashaAllah(Glory be to Almight Allah). You run to grab the musallas(prayer mat) when you hear nana do the adhaan(azaan/call to prayer). you do awesome rukus and love raising your hand for Allahu Akbar. When we were in toronto, you used to love imitating the way i did wudhu(ablution) or follow the way i do my sujood (prostration)

Today while nana was doing wudhu, you followed him into the washroom. Nana washed you up your hands and face. Then on the way out, nana told you to take off the slippers. Amazingly enough, you understood. You took them off and ran out!

I lub u babe!

A brush is but a brush

You've been seeing us brush our teeth. Ive been trying to teach you how to brush yours. Today, you grabbed your toothbrush and brushed everything you could find. Since you know how to use a hairbrush, you thought it was the same and went and began brushing naani's hair with it. It kept getting tangled so you went to nana to brush his - few remaining - hair. After a while, you saw something more interesting; his eyebrows! Lo behold! you began brushing that!

You're showing amazing signs of motor developmental skills mashaAllah. keep it up!

Something that really really amused me was watching you with a belt! I saw you with your shirt lifted high, trying to insert the belt through your diaper - as though they were your pants! You looked adorable mashaAllah.

Today i went to bhoriwada to do some business related work. When I came back, Naani was thoroughly impressed. you were simply unbelievable. You were asleep when i left, when you woke up you searched every room for me. But you knew i was not around, so you simply played wiht naani, without creating a chaos.

Booboo, me lubs u! =)

Friends..

Man is a social animal indeed. Today naani and nana had friends come over and invited a couple with two kids - aged approx 5 and 6. Its hard to pen the burst of glee you had on your face. When the kids came to the door, you held their hands and literally dragged them inside. It was as though you were scared they might go to the neighbours house!

Once inside, you had so much to tell them and kept talking and talking and talking and talking some more in your own baby language. You told them how nana sneezes. You showed them how to roll over. You showed them how to sneeze in a tissue. Then you talked some more. And when you couldnt express through words, you started running around.

You totally love having people around you. Every dawat we go to, every city we visit, you totally love it where there are tons of people around!

You're definitely your daddy's son and grandfather's grandson!!

oooch!

A few days ago you came into my arms crying. You were crying uncontrollably and kept holding your ear. When I looked around you, i found a q-tip and thought perhaps you dug it in too deep. A day later, at mud Island, i found red-dish gunk coming outta ur ears. I cleaned as best as i could and decided to wait untilw e return to mumbai before i looked up a doc.

Last night, you woke up around 6ish and kept crying. i rocked you, tried to feed you, carried you around but you wouldnt stop. I could feel the pain in your cries. You had your finger in your mouth so i thought maybe you were hungry. we walked to the kitchen yet you wouldnt stop. we had some cheeslings, yet you wouldnt stop. we went back to the room, nayma khala sang 'wheels on the bus' for you, rocked you around and yet you didnt stop.

By this time, nana and naani woke up for fajr and you loved it. You ran in between everyone while they prayed, you did the ruku. But you kept touching your ear.

So we decided to take you to a doctor. at the docs, u screamed hysterically. you wouldnt let him come anywhere near you, much less touch your ear. you shrieked with pain when he tried to look into your ear. you looked at me to help you out. I couldnt. i had to hold you down so he could look. you held me so tight. i hugged you so tight.

At the end of the entire ordeal, we've walked home with two prescribed medications and a diagnosed perforation in the outer ear (hole in the ear drum probably caused by an infection).

Time to take your mediii! =)

Eesa in karachi... part II

Ok.. so here's the follow up on my previous post. I've been procrastinating endlessly, but reckon its about time I go on top of this.

so Eesie.. your daddy joined us in karachi around the 18th of feb for a proposed two week stay. alhamdolillah we had TONS of fun. daddy and i, along with u, revisited old places that we used to hang out at before our wedding. we were booked for breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and coffee at night and it became tiring!

we stayed at shero phoppo's house and saeed bhai and saadia bhabhi were kind enough to give up their room for us. we met your abbi's family from his mums side but almost always forgot to take the cam (oops!). and we visited my daadi, my great daadi, my naani and many others. Bari naani is my daada's mum. Abbi and i didnt get to meet her much after we got married, but during this visit, alhamdolillah you and i go meet her very often!

Thats u, me and dadi pindi.

That's u trying to dodge bari naani's walking stick from nana! Minus Amma, that's five in a room, captured in the picture!

Thats you, running away with it!

That's abbi and nanna with bari naani. Bari nanni, my dadda ammi, is well over 90 years old mashaAllah. yet she has become a child once again. Her medications and dosages are those of a baby - she takes baby calpol etc. Her needs are those of a baby. When this pic was taken, it was HOT for the rest of us while she was sitting in the room with a shawl wrapped all around her, her feet lifted up, huddled into her and he fan was turned off, because she was feeling really cold. She has a baby monitor next to her.

abbi spent tons of time with u and spoilt u endlessly. we visited the beach with shero phoppo's fam and had tons of fun... In the start, you just loved the sight of the water but did not enjoy standing in the water. Whenever the waves approached, you'd run away. Abbi held your hand and taught you how to stand through the waves. Once you faced your fears, it was impossible to get you out of the water!hehe... below are some pix from dat day!

That's Maryam Apa, digging away!

Thats Safia Apa, Khadeeja Apa and you digging a pool while Abdullah bhai is fetching water in the background.

That's you digging away!

That's Zahra apa, soaking up the sun with her cheerful and utterly priceless smile. (MashaAllah!)

That's you mooning your bum away!

You in the sea.....

You on shore..

Mama and Eesie baby =)

Mama and Abbi...

Abbi, Eesa and maryam apa on the camel!

We saw crabs...

We soaked our feet in muddy water to escape the humongous crabs!

and... We looked pretty!

While zahra whistled and frowned!

and then... abbi left and we flew off to mumbai on the 3rd of march.. More to follow up on that!

Eesie's first trip across the oceans..

I know i've been neglecting this blog for a while. Maryam mentioned 'baby merchant's' blog and i remembered you had one on blogspot as well. So here i am updating it for you eesie=) Daadi and Dadda, along with phoppo daadis are missing u intensely. They call regularly to get updates on u. This should make it easier for them. daadi often msgs on msn just to how you're doing:

ѕнаяміи - says:
hows my baby
- ѕнаяміи - says:
missing him sooooooo much
Imo0o's Shezzii says:
he's fine alhamdolillah
Imo0o's Shezzii says:
missing u alot too

We've been ona three month tour of india and pakistan since jan this yr. Amma wasnt feeling well so i decided - on the spur of the moment yet again- to skip a semester and visit everyone here. It was a very spur of the moment decision but Alhamdolillah(praise be to Allah), Allah swt has been blessing and easing our work for us all along. Things have been rolling very smoothly and mashaAllah our paths keep getting clearer and clearer. I had to skip the semester to come, yet the teachers have been on strike so i havent missed out on much.. alhamdolillah!

Eesie, you've been a monsterously wonderful baby. You were a terror during the first half of the journey to karachi. You ran up and down the plane aisle. however, post london airport, you slept like a log! at london airport... my hijab raised security alerts and the security people didnt chk me.. but YOU! they chked ur diaper and ur diaper bag. lol. Stop terrorizing everyone already! heh!

In karachi, chacha and chachi joined us a few days later... . we went to arizona grill with them and zartaj apa where u paced the restaurant north south, east and to the west! you just wouldnt let us eat. The waiter served us with hot mashed potatoes and u stuck ur hand right in and ended up crying... a lesson well learnt:P oh! we also saw our first cockroach in pakistan there. All bold and mightyful, walking across the dinner table!

we went to the beach for a bonfire.. but u slept right through it. u fell asleep on the way there and whilst we lit the fire, walked the beach etc etc,.... u slept right thru it! a few days later, zubaida apa and zartaj apa took us again. it was amazing. u loved looking at the waves splashing onto the sand but u were scared of standing in the water. I assumed you didnt like the feel of sand slipping underneath your feet. however(!!), u loved the sand. here are a few snaps:

This next oneis with u and Amjad bhai on the horse ride.

We spent alot of time with families from both sides. However, I didnt take many pix, during my stay at Imran's side of the family due to purdah restrictions. We surprised their side of the family. We had saeed bhai and saadia bhabhi in on the plan and mom mistakenly let it out to farheen bhabhi who didnt know exactly when i was arriving. They were thoroughly surprised. When Ameerah apa saw you, she said 'he looks just like eesa, i wish he was eesa'. When they saw me, they were very happy and glad that it was indeed you!

We met alot of family from my side as well. here are a few people up your ancestory ladder from my side. (woow that sounds like a swear word!!)

Thats the three of us. Four generations minus Abu (your nana). Thats my daadi dear. She's a gem mashaALlah.

Your naani and khala, ammi and nayma, also gave us a brief visit from india for the weekend. Khala was a surprise. It was shaima khalas biddah day, so we all got together. Here she is giving us a stunning pose!

Naani dear is a lil camera shy and khala nayma was behind the camera so we dont have any memories from that.

On this day, you also met a friend who refused to be bullied by you- Fari khala's son, Daniyal! Daniyal is a month younger than you. So far, you'd been bullying Aisha, Saeed chacha's daughter, and Zahrah, Shoaib chacha's daughter. Your daadi was scared you'd learn how to bully kids by being around other kids. Daadi, you were terribly wrong. Eesa bullied Aisha and Zahrah as though he'd been enrolled in bully's camp his entire first yr of existence. Eesie you'd climb into Aisha's car seat while she was in there or you'd snatch stuff out of zahrah's hands. Inevitably you wanted the exact same toys that zahrah wanted. Aisha would bear her sorrows silently but zahrah would frighten u away with her wails! I deter.

Having lived with three elder cousins, Daniyal is no bystanding contender to your bully-ness. here's the two of you:

You also fell ill while you were here. Not only were u having an upset tummy, you were running a fever that drove the the thermometer mercury, sky high!. You'd cling onto me like a second skin. You stopped eating and lost the tires on your arm (you've regained them again alhamdolilllah). On some days you were so weak, you could barely open your eyes. We had to force water down your throat to keep you hydrated. You scared naani to no end! A smallest bite of food would cause you to throw up! Here's a few of you peacefully sleeping:

Your nana, abu, gave us a short four day visit from india. Here are your pix from the first day with him.

Your abbi missed you intensely and decided to join you a few days later. More updates from that part of our trip coming up shortly!
